Future of Fund Drives at WICN

We have listened to you, as you listen and continue to support us.

Fund Drives happen quarterly at WICN. These on-air initiatives raise the needed funds for public radio stations like ours to provide commercial-free programming 24 hours a day, seven days a week to our listeners throughout the heart of New England and via live streaming worldwide with the curated music and programs you enjoy on WICN. We know at times these are disrupting to the regular programming you tune into, so we listened.

There will still be four annual Fund Drives. In the past, they often went on for 10-16 days. They will now each be only one week long to decrease the programming disruption. Fund Drives will have more themes, daily incentives and bundled premium package to our members.

In addition, there will be an occasional pop-up "one to two-day" on-air Fund Drive during the year. These will have very little on-air pre-promotion with the purpose to create creative, fun one offs developed to be theme centric given the chosen dates.

The revamping of our membership fundraising initiatives with shorter Fund Drives and the occasional pop-up ones is in response to our listeners.  We still need your support to continue with our commitment of providing broadcasting excellence.

Our next Fund Drive is “Summer in the City”, starting on June 14th with Nick Noble’s Folk Revival show.  It concludes on June 21st with Vince Lombardi’s Standard Time, which is the first day of summer - Summer Solstice.

WICN is proud to be a partner in Make Music Day on June 21st, and on this day our Studio 50 will host a rotation of live music performances from 3-8pm and is open to all. A full schedule of performing artists at WICN will be released soon along with a listing of other locations throughout the region hosting complimentary public live music performances. What a great way to kick off the first day of Summer and close our “Summer in the City” Fund Drive!  Please join us.

We always welcome your input and appreciate our members.   If you ever want to reach me directly to share your ideas and thoughts, please see my contact information below. Membership support drives the station and the music you love.  Our passion is to serve you and our community with a continued cultural presence and engaging, vibrant programming – now in our 50th year!

With our continued appreciation.
