Come down to WICN Studio 50 this Thursday, January 23rd, for a listening session in honor of guitar virtuoso Django Reinhardt (1910 – 53), well known for his role in the Quintet of the Hot Club of France from 1934 forward. His music was as innovative and profound as it is easy to love; Django remains a favorite for listeners new and old, and an inspiration for musicians on many instruments in jazz and beyond.
Drop in to see what all the fuss is about! We’re listening officially from 6:30 until 8pm, but we’ll get the good sounds started by 6pm.
The Worcester Hot Club is an informal gathering of fans of hot music—focusing on Jazz, Blues, Gospel and folk traditions from mainly the first half of the 20th Century. We meet once or twice a month for an evening session of listening, learning, occasional viewing, and sharing. All are welcome: You don’t have to know anything to attend, and there’s no obligation to be a member.
