Live Concerts

Julia and the Zerounian Ensemble

Event Date:
Thursday, March 21, 2013 - 7:30pm

The inimitable song-stylist Julia and the Zerounian Ensemble perform familiar and exotic songs from around the world. According to the Boston Globe, "The soulful vocalist is a one woman United Nations of Cabaret, singing French, Italian, Armenian, Russian, Persian, Yiddish and Latin tunes in addition to American Songbook classics, with her husband pianist Sarkis Zerounian leading a sextet including violin, saxophone, bass and percussion."

With her gorgeous and evocative voice she transcends language and culture to express the music inherent in any language and culture. With a worldwide repertoire of songs, Julia and her ensemble deliver an exciting musical experience with equal parts conviction, authority and heart. She takes on all the different musical genres of these countries performing with her glowing and warm personality and making her truly a "world music singer."

"Julia, an old-fashioned nightclub chanteuse with glamour, style, and a real voice - warm and inviting. Singing in English, French Italian, Armenian, Russian, Persian and Yiddish, she had the audience eating out of her hand and, invited or not, singing along with her. From the piano, her husband, Sarkis Zerounian, elegantly led the stylish Jazz combo with violin." - Lloyd Schwartz, The Boston Phoenix
