Violinist, fiddler, singer and composer/improviser Eden MacAdam-Somer presents faculty recital on Tuesday, March 13

Concert features musical diplomacy ensemble Cuatro Puntos in the Boston premiere of MacAdam-Somer’s string quartet The Shooting Gallery

New England Conservatory’s (NEC) internationally renowned Contemporary Improvisation (CI) Department presents co-chair and alumna Eden MacAdam-Somer in a faculty recital on Tuesday, March 13 at NEC’s Jordan Hall, 290 Huntington Avenue, Boston. The concert features pianists and CI colleagues Anthony Coleman and Bert Seager, plus alumna and pianist Sarah Bob, and, for the first time on the Jordan Hall stage, members of Hartford-based musical diplomacy ensemble Cuatro Puntos, performing the Boston premiere of MacAdam-Somer’s string quartet The Shooting Gallery.

The Shooting Gallery was commissioned by Cuatro Puntos, a non-profit dedicated to international dialogue and outreach through music. Based on a series of lithographs by Czech surrealist Toyen created in response to the Nazi takeover of Prague, MacAdam-Somer’s musical composition deals with violence in today’s world as seen through the eyes of children.

MacAdam-Somer will also be joined by pianists Anthony Coleman (with a series of new pieces based on songs by George Jones and Loretta Lynn), Bert Seager (in a new duo collaboration on original works and jazz standards) and Sarah Bob (performing the Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano).

Admission is free. For more information call 617-585-1122 or visit
