WORCESTER, Massachusetts – It’s that time of year again! From Monday June 7th – Sunday June 13th, Jeremiah’s Inn will be holding their 27th Annual Summer Food Drive. It is during this week that Jeremiah’s Inn asks the community to make non-perishable food and monetary donations, which will aid those in Worcester who are currently struggling with hunger.
Shaw’s Supermarket – Gold Star (14 West Boylston St.) is the main food drive site. There will be collection boxes on site all week long for donations of non-perishable items. Join them on June 12th & 13th at Shaw’s from 10-6 when staff and volunteers will be there raising awareness to food insecurity and collecting food in person. They are excited to have K-LOVE Radio celebrating with them on both days until 2pm, providing positive and encouraging music along with games and giveaways!!
If you can’t make it to Shaw’s, Price Choppers on Cambridge St. & Park Ave. have both generously agreed to host boxes for donation collection at their stores throughout the week as well. Lend your support by hosting your own food drives, and by encouraging friends, family, employees & co-workers, to support the cause!
Jeremiah’s Inn transforms the lives of people impacted by the effects of hunger and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) through innovative programs that celebrate the diversity and inherent worth of all individuals, and through community education that builds awareness of and advocates for those in need. Since 1996, JI has been licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Bureau of Substance Abuse Services to operate a Residential Recovery Program for men. Assisting over 100 men a year on their journey toward recovery from substance use. Additionally, Jeremiah’s Inn operates a Nutrition Center & Food Pantry through which this donated food will be distributed. The COVID 19 pandemic has dramatically increased the demand for their emergency food services. The number of first-time clients in 2020 rose almost 300%!! These families need our support!
With support from YOU, Jeremiah’s Inn can help ease the pain of hunger that our friends, neighbors, and family members face on daily basis. To see a list of the most requested items or to make a donation visit: www.jeremiahsinn.com/food-drive
