In 1919 World War I had just ended when it was decided that France would have a Tour de France, the weeks-long grueling bicycle race that traces the borders of France. The route would take the participants right through areas that were scenes of constant fighting and bombing just months before. Tonight on Inquiry we talk with writer and journalist ADIN DOBKIN about his gripping account of this race: SPRINTING THROUGH NO MAN’S LAND/ENDURANCE, TRAGEDY, AND REBIRTH IN THE 1919 TOUR DE FRANCE.
