September 6, 2020
Tonight on Inquiry we welcome ANDREW GRANVILLE. He is the Canada Research Chair in Number Theory at the University of Montreal and the professor of mathematics at University College London. Joining him is JENNIFER GRANVILLE, educator, film and theatre producer, writer and director. Tother they have created a very unique graphic novel titled PRIME SUSPECTS: THE ANATOMY OF INTEGERS AND PERMUTATIONS. It’s a murder mystery about certain concepts in mathematics. Sound interesting? It is, so tune in.
Some of the most interesting concepts in theoretical physics today are also the most problematic. String theory, the multiverse, the universe as mathematics are all ideas that are intriguing but are they really science in the traditional sense? Tonight on Inquiry, we talk with DAVID LINDLEY. He is a science writer and editor and he holds a Ph.D. in astrophysics. His new book questions where contemporary physics is going: THE DREAM UNIVERSE: HOW FUNDAMENTAL PHYSICS LOST ITS WAY.
