In an encore of The Business Beat, Steve D’Agostino interviews Rick Lent, a member of the Leadership Team of the Massachusetts chapter of Elders Climate Action. They talk about mobilizing elders to address extreme climate change. This episode aired originally on February 11, 2018.

Elders Climate Action bills itself as “grandparents … [and] baby boomers who are from the Greatest Generation. We are a campaign, a movement of elders committed to making our voices heard: to change our nation’s energy policies while there is still time to avoid catastrophic changes in the Earth’s climate. Because of this concern and because we are the largest voting bloc, we elders are in a unique position to influence national policy, and can use that power to push for policies that will reduce greenhouse gases to a level consistent with life thriving on our planet.”

Rick Lent has spent the past 25 years facilitating meetings around the world for such organizations as the World Food Programme, USAID, UNICEF, the WK Kellogg Foundation, and the International Red Cross, along with dozens of local community and non-profit groups. He received his PhD from Syracuse University in education and organizational changes.
