Scott Chimileski and Roberto Kolter: Life at the Edge of Sight

This week on Inquiry we explore the world of the microbe. This is a complex world we typically cannot see, but these microbes communicate, cooperate and compete sometimes in a matter of femtoseconds.  Humans have managed to domesticate certain microbes and from them we get cheese, kimchi and salami. Tonight we talk with SCOTT CHIMILESKI, a photographer and a Research fellow at Harvard Medical School and ROBERTO KOLTER, a Professor at Harvard Medical School and Co-Director of Harvard’s Microbial Sciences Initiative. Together they have written one of the most surprising, beautiful and fun books on the biological sciences: LIFE AT THE EDGE OF SIGHT: A PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPLORATION OF THE MICROBIAL WORLD.
